Onward Ho to Version 1.0!

One of the greatest delights of releasing tXtFL 0.9.2 was that a 1.0 release seems to be in the foreseeable future. 6 years of coding has led to an at least somewhat accurate simulator of live statistical football. With the game engine relatively intact, what remains are vast stretches of graphical enhancements, user-friendliness, and all those little refinements, such as the ability to play full seasons.

The proposed 1.0 roadmap is an extended release plan through several alpha builds. Beta status will only be conferred when the sim is deemed ready for everyday use. (haha, ok, that's a bite off of what I've read on Firefox 3 development, which is what this tXtFL release is loosely modeled after.) Release candidates will be made until we have something we're proud of.

The key to all of this will be your feedback. The tXtFL project may seem at times like a one-man band, but I've benefited greatly from the limited feedback I've received and would greatly appreciate hearing from you, whether positive of negative comments. ("It takes a negative comment to make a positive one.") Please feel free to make use of the forums, trackers, or good ol' email. Thanks!

Bumped to Future Releases

In an effort to complete tXtFL 1.0 by 2009, we're bumping back a few features originally planned for the release. These features require significantly more coding and the possibility of a code rewrite to take advantage of new graphical/web technologies.

  • tXtFieLd remote graphical field display (via GUI rewrite?)
  • Database backend for players, teams, and seasons
