SourceForge.net has partnered with Tangient to provide (now an older version of the) Wikispaces functionality as part of the SourceForge.net offering.
A wiki is a web-based document editing and viewing tool. Wikis allow projects to create documentation easily and quickly using a standardized syntax to simplify the documentation process. Special wiki formatting abstracts from users the need to know HTML or other related technologies and concentrate on the core goal of generating documents.
Additional wiki options are now provided as part of our Hosted Apps offering.
Accessing the Wikispaces Wiki
To get to a project's Wikispaces wiki, use the Wiki menu visible when visiting the project on SourceForge.net. If there is no Wiki menu visible, then the project does not have a wiki area enabled.
Information on how to edit in Wikispaces is found on this page.
The Wikispaces wiki has three permission settings: public, protected and private. The public setting allows anyone to view and edit a wiki page. The protected setting allows anyone to view the wiki, but only project members can edit the wiki. The private setting only allows project members to view and edit the wiki.
Wiki permission settings can be configured from the Wiki admin menu. To access the Wiki permissions page, do the following:
- Login to the SourceForge.net website.
- Under the Project Admin dropdown menu, select Feature Settings.
- In the Wikispaces row, click Manage.
- Click on the 'Members and Permissions' link.
- Select the permissions setting desired.
Enabling or Disabling the Wikispaces Wiki
A project admin should use the Project Admin menu to select the Wiki menu item to either enable to disable the Wikispaces wiki area for their project. Once enabled, there will be a Wikispaces row in the the Enabled Features list.
