Spam Controls
SourceForge.net has implemented a number of anti-spam controls. This includes the use of Spamassassin, greylisting, sender limits and other controls that may change on a day-by-day basis.
SourceForge.net itself will not originate spam. We further do our best to limit the amount of spam that passes through our servers. Spam continues to adapt over time; please recognize that regardless of the number of controls we put in to place, it is impossible to detect all of the spam before message delivery. There is no need to notify us of spam you have received as we constantly monitor refine our anti-spam systems.
Virus Controls
All mails that flow through SourceForge.net are checked with ClamAV. Message delivery will be rejected upon virus detection.
Antivirus tools are at risk for false positives (detecting a virus where none exists). Before reporting a virus concern, we encourage you to perform broader testing of the file using Jotti's malware scan, which passes the file through many popular anti-virus and anti-malware tools, reporting the result.
We consider ClamAV our gold standard. If ClamAV fails to detect the confirmed presence of a virus, please submit the file to ClamAV so ClamAV may assess the need further. We automatically update our virus definitions as new definitions are available. There is no need to report these cases to us directly; we will begin detecting the virus when ClamAV begins detecting the virus.
