Ticket #4901 (closed: fixed)

sf is confused as to whether or not I'm logged in

Reported by: xiongchiamiov Owned by: hinojosa
Keywords: CREATE PEND Cc:
Private: no

Description

I am clearly logged into the site, as evidenced by the fact that I can create an issue here, and "Welcome, Xiong Chiamiov" appears in the top-right of pages. On an issue I reported for a project, however, I cannot make a comment afterwards, because I get the "Log in to comment." text, which leads me to a login page that tells me that I am already logged in. Yes, I have refreshed said issue page, and the logged-in indicators appear in the top-right of that page, as well.

Hello,

I've not been able to reproduce this problem. Can you supply a link to a page where you see this? Also, what operating system and browser are you using?

The url I have problems with is the one I posted before (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2860186&group_id=172663&atid=862558 , if for some reason you can't view the hyperlink). Just for kicks, I removed all cookies with 'sourceforge' in the name, confirmed I was logged out, relogged in, and saw the same thing.

All of this was on Mozilla Firefox 3.5.2, on Arch Linux. I've also just tested it in Opera 10.00, just to make sure it wasn't NoScript or any of my other numerous extensions causing problems again. Sorry about not providing this information before, btw.

This account is a bit old (I didn't even know I _had_ a SF account until I tried to make one, and it told me my username was already in use), if that makes any difference. I also tried associating my OpenID from Google with it, before giving up. Of course, neither of these is likely the cause, but I just thought I'd let you know, since you're much more able to make decisions about what information is valuable and what is not.

Hmm, so I only appear to have difficulties with that particular bug. Other bugs in the same project, and bugs in other projects, allow me to add comments to them (or at least appear to - I didn't save any). This leads me to believe that my status as reporter of the bug has some bearing upon the issue.

As a side note, the "Add comment" and "Log in to post a comment" texts should really be in the same place, rather than having one above the comments and one below. It took me a few confused seconds to realize that the disappearance of the "please log in" text also resulted in the ability to actually add a comment. But this is completely unrelated, and I can file a separate bug for it if that would be appreciated.

Hello,

Thank you for the update. I was not able to reproduce the problem on my own account. I am going to escalate this ticket for further review by our engineering team.

Hi

Can you confirm whether you are still experiencing this issue? If you are, can you provide a complete list of steps necessary to reproduce it?

Thanks,
