Caught in spam net

Reported by: reganto Owned by: ctsai
Keywords: PEND Cc:
Private: no

I tried to create a topic "Related work" in a forum whose administrator I am, and instead of it being added to the forum an error message "Caught in spam net" was displayed. Why?

We have some anti-bot detection systems in place on places like the forums. The particular error message you mention is a detection based on factors not related to the body of the message itself. Do you perhaps have a browser extension that may be triggering this?

Browser extensions

Changed 23 months ago by reganto

The browser that I was using (Safari 5.1.7 on OS X 10.6.8) had several extensions installed (see attachment), but I cannot know which of them might have triggered the error message. However, I added the same topic successfully later. The difference between the failed and the successful addition was that a URL that was directly inserted into the failed message was embedded as a link in the successful message. This suggests the possibility that content does in fact trigger the error.

Thank you for the update. Since you were able to make the post later, I suspect that this was a transient issue. Note that we provide a different error message for when the spam filter is triggered by the content of the message. It was likely a different variable that caused the issue.
