svn commit fails on utf-8 filenames

Reported by: brlcad Owned by: wdavison
Keywords: SOG SCM P2 Cc:
Private: no

Attempting to commit a file with utf-8 characters in the filename to our repository, I'm getting a failure from the pre-commit-hook script:

Sending AUTHORS
Sending NEWS
Sending doc/docbook/articles/CMakeLists.txt
Adding doc/docbook/articles/hy
Adding doc/docbook/articles/hy/մասին.xml
Adding doc/docbook/articles/hy/CMakeLists.txt
Transmitting file data .....subversion/libsvn_client/commit.c:873: (apr_err=165001)
svn: Commit failed (details follow):
subversion/libsvn_ra_dav/util.c:826: (apr_err=165001)
svn: MERGE request failed on '/svnroot/brlcad/brlcad/trunk'
subversion/libsvn_ra_dav/util.c:389: (apr_err=165001)
svn: Commit blocked by pre-commit hook (exit code 1) with output:
/var/local/mastertree/host/sfp-svn/hook-scripts/check-mime-type.pl: `/usr/bin/svnlook proplist /nfs/sf-svn-symlinks/brlcad -t 49503-1 --verbose brlcad/trunk/doc/docbook/articles/hy/?\213?\180?\213?\161?\213?\189?\213?\171?\213?\182.xml' failed with this output:
svnlook: Path 'brlcad/trunk/doc/docbook/articles/hy/?\213?\180?\213?\161?\213?\189?\213?\171?\213?\182.xml' does not exist

Is there something I'm doing wrong or is there a potential workaround (other than rename the file)?

This appears to be for the SVN repo for the brlcad project, can you confirm?

Affirmative. BRL-CAD's svn repo. The file was being added to here:

An "svn mv" results in the same pre-commit failure.

Okay, just wanted to confirm whether this was an issue with a classic or the Beta SourceForge repository. I'm escalating this to our operations team to investigate this classic repo issue.
