problems with login cookie that are hard to shake

Reported by: graywatson Owned by: ctsai
Keywords: PEND Cc:
Private: no

Description

This has happened to me a couple of times recently and it's a pain.

1) clear all cookies (http/https)
2) come to sourceforge.net
3) Click on "Register" instead of login. Ooops.
4) Click on "Log In"
5) Use OpenId to login
6) When it redirects back to SF, it says "You must log out of current account to register" or some such.
7) The only way to fix it is to clear _all_ cookies (http and https) for SF and start over.

One solution may be to clear that register cookie when someone clicks "Log Out".

The message more specifically says "You must first logout of the current user account to create a new user". Also I am using MyOpenID if that matters.

Hello,

It seems to me that the issue is simply that after you login, you're redirected back to the last page you were on. Since you were last on the registration page, it sends you back there, but you can't register a new account if you're logged in.

It seems the solution here is simply to navigate to just ignore that warning and navigate to whatever page you are trying to get to after logging in.

If you think this is something else, please let me know.
