Permissions problem on mailing list

Reported by: stumoodie Owned by: ctsai
Keywords: ENGR NF-3589 NF-3590 FORGE P3 Cc:
Private: no

Hi Support,

I want to make a mailing list archive available to members of the project, but this seems not to work. The project, DDMoRe, is restricted to being viewable to members only, but the mailing list archives only seem to be visible to Admin users. Only if we make the project readable to authenticated or anonymous users are the Archives viewable by non-admin users. Since we wish the content of the list to be restricted to members of the project this is not a workable solution for us. After much investigation it seems like there is a problem with SF's project security configuration as we should be able to do this. Could you investigate please?

Best wishes,

Stuart Moodie

I uncovered a few bugs while trying to troubleshoot this that I've logged here: https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/3589/

And here: https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/3590/

In any case though, in the meantime, the best way to do what you want until those items are fixed would be to

1) go to the Mailing List admin page, and set any mailing list you want private to "private" (as per [https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/3590/ allura ticket 3590), it may return a 500, but it should still save).

2) Until allura ticket 3589 is addressed, add any user that needs to the privileges to read the archives to the "Developer" group on your usergroups page.

Let me know if this helps!
