A README.txt file is always the default download

Description

Hello, this is Aaron, from the Huygens Remote Manager (hrm) project.

I uploaded a new release of our software a few days ago and realized today that the default download in the summary page was the README.txt that I uploaded together with the archive. I reset the other file (several times...) as the default but without success. Actually, no matter what I tried, the only way to set the .tar.bz2 archive as the default download was to delete the README.txt file...

If this helps, the HRM is still on the old platform.

Thanks,
a2

Hello,

We have a ticket for improving the auto-detection so that it doesn't pick up README files (or at least at a much lower priority) here: https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/3534/

With that said though, until that is implemented, you can always manually set the default download.

Setting the default download can be accomplished through the File Manager.

  1. Go to the Files page while logged in to access the File Manager
  2. From the File Manager navigate to the directory that contains the file
  3. Select the "i" icon for the file you wish to set as the default download
  4. On the bottom right check the boxes for the operating systems which you wish the file to be the default download for.
  5. Select save

That should then set the default download as the file you selected. There may be up to a 5 minute delay before links are updated.

Hi,

I have done exactly that (I have been releasing versions of the HRM for quite a while), but it looked like it was never switching to the archive. From experience I know it takes a little while to update, but I never had to wait as long without seeing the change being applied. In any case, I will soon release a new HRM version and then I will check whether this happens again.

Thanks a lot,

Hi,

I am sorry - it was my fault. I was checking the download from a platform for which I had not set the default download...

I apologize,
Aaron
