Exclude README from Download-Button-Heuristics

Reported by: felfert Owned by: ctsai
Keywords: ENGR NF-3534 Cc:
Private: no

Project: opennx

After uploading a README.txt into the project's toplevel FRS dir, display is fine for Windows and Mac (.exe resp .dmg shown), but for Linux (and probably others) this README file gets displayed in the download button.
This happens even after uploading a tar.gz newer that the README
file (tar.gz is in a subdir).

Since I release pretty frequent and everything is automated at our side, I'd hate to set the prefs manually all the time...

Oops - someone was faster than me:

Id did look for similar tickets earlier - then tried to fool the heuristics - finally wrote the ticket without searching again....

  • keywords ENGR NF-3534 added; FRS download button removed
  • owner set to ctsai

We have a ticket for improving the auto-detection so that it doesn't pick up README files (or at least at a much lower priority) here: https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/3534/

With that said though, until that is implemented, you can always manually set the default download.

Setting the default download can be accomplished through the File Manager.

  1. Go to the Files page while logged in to access the File Manager
  2. From the File Manager navigate to the directory that contains the file
  3. Select the "i" icon for the file you wish to set as the default download
  4. On the bottom right check the boxes for the operating systems which you wish the file to be the default download for.
  5. Select save

That should then set the default download as the file you selected. There may be up to a 5 minute delay before links are updated.

I know about the manual pref. setting. I just don't like it... Well for now it suffices.
- Thanks

It would be nice to leave this ticket open until any fix in allura gets deployed on SF, so I get notified when this happens.

Thanks again
