Ticket #21418 (closed: wontfix)
SF support for open-id flawed
|Reported by:||ezsource||Owned by:||ctsai|
As an admin on the iAlertU project, I try to respond to comments, and issues created by users that login.
Some of these people login with their open-id's which you encourage. Unfortunately, when they do, the source forge website does not properly record who they are. This means I have no way to contact the people if they are asking for help, or if they are wanting to contribute something.
In effect, open-id gives people a way to anonymously comment, etc even though I have tried to prevent this via the project settings.
Another related issue is that trying to direct mail these people via their open-id link simply doesn't work.
Is there some way you can fix, or at least improve this?
Just yesterday a user offered to arrange some translation for iAlertU. I can't contact him directly due to his using open-id, and even if he's monitored the discussion he commented in, I have no confidence that my responses in that discussion will be sent to him, as I strongly suspect that the monitor mechanism won't be able to email him at his open-id any more than other parts of the site.
