Logged in via OpenID causes misleading errors

Description

It seems that logging in via OpenID prevents some functionality of this site. While that's understandable, it seems to create a couple of strange issues. For example, when trying to send a message to a project owner, I received the following error:

Could not retrieve page id
Page ID '1' was referenced, but does not exist!

This error has apparently occurred for other situations. One forum I found mentioned it was due to the OpenID login. Switching back to my username/password setup, it seemed to work again. Perhaps the error could change to a message like, "OpenID logins do not support sending messages".
