Project RSS Feeds outdated

Reported by: danielpolansky Owned by: ctsai
Keywords: ENGR NF-2031 Cc:
Private: no

Description

The overview pages "Project RSS Feeds" seem to contain some outdated links to individual RSS feeds.

To reproduce for FreeMind project:

I visit

https://sourceforge.net/export/rss2_project.php?group_id=7118

Then I click on "Project file releases", which leads to

https://sourceforge.net/export/rss2_projfiles.php?group_id=7118

That URL contains a last update from 2009, which is very outdated. There seems to be a RSS URL that is up to date:

http://sourceforge.net/api/file/index/project-id/7118/mtime/desc/limit/20/rss

Thank you for any fixes.

Hello,

That RSS feed page is no longer maintained. Where did you find a link to that page?

Thanks,

Hello,

re: Where I have the following link from:

https://sourceforge.net/export/rss2_project.php?group_id=7118

I have entered the link to FreeMind wiki some time ago, so this is where I got the link from.

If this page is discontinued in favor of an updated one, the URL should probably redirect to a page that is up to date, right? (Redirecting to new URLs is what SourceForge does with outdated URLs to forum threads, which is really nice.) Instead of being a redirect, the page could contain a banner or box that says that the page is no longer updated, as an alternative fix. The way it is right now, there is no way for me or anyone else to tell that the page is intended as obsoleted or deprecated by SourceForge.

Thank you,
Dan Polansky

Okay, thanks for the feedback. I'm passing on the request to either have that page taken down, have a note placed on that page, or to have that page fixed: https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/2031/

Greetings,

We already have a long term goal of eventually tearing down all the old "Classic SourceForge" pages and completely moving over to newer codebases.

This will be taken care of when this effort is complete, but I don't expect this to be addressed individually.

Chris Tsai, SourceForge.net Support
