Description
The WAIX mirror throttles non-WAIX IPs to less than 10 kilobytes per second. In other words, the WAIX mirror only allows full download speed to WAIX IPs.
The majority of Australian users directed to the WAIX mirror will be non-WAIX IPs and will be throttled. These users would receive better speed from any other SourceForge server than the WAIX server.
The only option for such users who are automatically directed to the WAIX server is to manually set a download mirror when downloading - an inconvenience not justified by the comparatively small number of users who can download at full speed from the WAIX server.
More importantly for programs that download updates via SourceForge mirrors directly by bypassing the web browser it is impossible to manually select a download mirror and as a result such users are forced to endure painfully slow downloads. Again, a large inconvenience for the majority of users directed to the WAIX mirror compared to the small minority who achieve the benefit of full speed from the WAIX mirror.
I see no good reason to allow WAIX to be a SourceForge mirror while their policy is to slow the downloads of non-WAIX IPs.
WAIX should be removed from the list of SourceForge mirrors.
