Origin:
The OpenSMPP API is an open source Java library implementing the SMPP (Short Message Peer to Peer) protocol. It is based on the original Logica OpenSMPP API.

Releases:
2003-07-23: v2.0 (Alpha) was made available.
2006-03-09: v2.0 (Stable) was made available.

History of Support:
Support for developers using the API used to be provided until the end of 2007 via the forums at http://www.smsforum.net. However, SMS Forum ceased operation in 2007, and since then, no official forum has been announced for support.
