Welcome to the RDCL Wiki!
This wiki contains information for the Ruby Desktop Connection Library (short: RDCL) for the Apple Newton, written in Ruby. The RDCL is an open source implemenation of the connection protocol between a Newton MessagePad and programs like the Newton Connection Utilities. Connections are typically run over serial cable, but other connection methods can be used as well (only serial connections are implemented at the moment).
The aim of the RDCL is to provide an extensible, open source framework to build applications to interact with the Newton.

Status
RDCL is very much in early development, and does not have much value for end users yet. Some functionality like package installation and data export however works already.
