= The Indic-Computing Project = [[PageOutline]] We create open-source tools and create technical documentation on Indian language computing issues. Indian language computing has yet to make a impact on the vast majority of the people living in the Indian subcontinent. There appear to be at least seven major factors hindering full-fledged adoption of computing in the Indian subcontinent. These are examined in greater detail in our "[http://indic-computing.sourceforge.net/designaxes/index.html Design Axes]" paper. This !SourceForge.Net project attempts to address some of these factors that adversely impact the use of ''open-source'' for Indian language computing. We intend to serve the open-source community in three major ways: * By promoting developer education through a freely accessible, "open-source" [http://indic-computing.sourceforge.net/handbook/index.html Handbook] covering Indian language computing. * By writing open-source software tools for real-world Indian language computing needs. Our development projects are open to all, and a couple have applicability to areas other than "Indic" computing. * By offering [http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=38057 mailing lists] on which issues related to Indian language software and Indian language standards can be discussed. == Events == * [wiki:Events/FirstIndicWorkShop The First Indic-Computing Workshop], Bangalore, Sep 15th-16th, 2002. == Subprojects == * [wiki:Projects/HandBook The Indic-Computing Handbook] == Site Navigation == * [http://indic-computing.sourceforge.net/sitemap.html Site Map] * [wiki:TitleIndex Wiki Title Index]
