Database names with period (.) in them get over-escaped.

Hm. I can't even create a database with periods in it in mysql or phpmyadmin to reproduce this problem. How could you even have a database created that way? I'm using MySQL 5.0 and I notice that the reporter is using mysql 5.1 so perhaps this is a new capability of MySQL 5.1? Either way, I'm going to defer this to beta 2 while I wait for repro information.
