Use in an application on Mac

Hello everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place but it seemed the most fitting.
I am planning on making a version of the Reactable to use like a hotkey source for a mixing program such as djay or Mixx. I was hoping to accomplish this by using reactivation and blocks with the codes on the bottoms placed on a table with glass to trigger events such as a placing a block down which triggers tack 1 to play then picking the block up to make it stop. I would prefer to write this as mac native and in Xcode, but if people have better ideas or its not possible that is fine.
Any suggestions or ways to go about this are greatly appreciated.
