Undo backspace

Postby achilleask » Wed May 02, 2012 1:20 pm

Hello again. Back for a second round of "constructive criticism" :)
I noticed a couple of days ago that the undo function doesn't handle deleting text when backspace is used.
For instance, I am doing the following in a new note right now:

Type "this is a test note".
Press undo - the text is gone.
All good.

Now, type "this is a test note"
Then press backspace until a couple of the words are deleted, leaving "this is a".
Press undo and the entire line is removed.
The function doesn't, but should, undo the deletion of the words "test note", before undoing the typing of the sentence.
One would expect the deleted words to reappear and a second undo should remove the sentence.

The program works fine when "delete" is used instead of backspace.
For instance:
Type "this is a test note".
Move the cursor to the start of the word "test".
Press delete 5 times, removing the word test (with trailing space).
Press undo and the word "test" reappears correctly.

In fact, the last example works even if you use backspace instead of delete (I just noticed). The problem seems to occur only if you use backspace to remove text from the end of the line you just finished typing.

EDIT: I just realised that the web-interface of Evernote has the exact same behaviour. Maybe it's not a bug or an instance of problematic behaviour after all. I mean, I'd prefer it if it was more like other programs, but since the original service works the same way, I can't really complain.

I can double check the code, but I don't believe this is something Nixnote controls. If I remember correctly, I just tell Webkit "undo the last change" and it handles it.

Yeah, I realised it was a bit nitpicky, especially considering that the Evernote web interface behaves the same way.
