Well, you could use either the old
or the new
Technic tread links, using gears
with the old, and large
sprockets with the new, to drive the belts. Elevation would be easy. The hard part is turning. The only easy way to have a turn in the belt that I can think of at the moment is to have it banked, like a roller coaster track.
