XML Photo Album Wiki
XML Photo Album is a free, open-source two-component system for creating and displaying albums of digital photos. The first component is the Album Generator application which runs under the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 on Windows 98 and later, and may run under Mono in Linux. The Album Generator creates an XML database of all the album data. Albums are viewed in a web browser using the second component of the software, a set of files which automatically format the album display. The purpose of this wiki is to allow users to contribute to the documentation and to share display modifications and translations.
The help files for the XML Photo Album software are posted in the Documentation section, where they can be edited and augmented by users for the benefit of others. Also, we will consider incorporating any changes/additions submitted in the wiki into future versions of the help files.
In creating the XML Photo Album system, we have endeavored to keep content and display separate so that aspects of the display could be easily modified by users. Much of the display preferences such as fonts, colors, margins, etc. can be changed in the 'album.css' file with relatively little technical expertise, and the remainder can be changed in the XSL files, though this requires a more technical expertise. Since we do not distribute alternate display schemes as part of our package, this wiki also allows users who have modified the display to share their versions of the CSS and XSL files, as well as translations for the XSL files, and help file. We are also evaluating the feasibility of offering translations for the GUI.
