Resources

For the prospecting part the game needs resources. I've grouped those into four groups, gases, fluids, metals and minerals. Maybe I should add crystals as special form of minerals later.

Gases

I've tried to limit the list to gases which are either well known and/or use to appear in planetary atmosperes in bigger amounts - best if they are both.

  • Hydrogen
  • Helium
  • Oxygen
  • Nitrogen
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Ammonia
  • Water vapor
  • Methane

Metals

Metals which seemed too volatile or reactant didn't make it into the list, because plante creation usually happens as a process that included high temperatures.

  • Chromium
  • Lead
  • Manganese
  • Tin
  • Copper
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Zinc
  • Mercury
  • Iron
  • Nickel
  • Iridium
  • Osmium
  • Palladium
  • Rhodium
  • Ruthenium
  • Bismuth
  • Indium
  • Tellurium

Minerals

A very difficult section - there are myriads of possible minerals, and I need to build up a somewhat sensible selection for the game part of Solarex. The rare earths seemed interesting and I chose a few of rhe more common known minerals.

  • Sulfur
  • Phosphates
  • Feldspar
  • Kaolin
  • Potash
  • Gypsum
  • Iron oxides
  • Scandium
  • Yttrium
  • Lanthanum
  • Cerium
  • Praseodymium
  • Neodymium
  • Promethium
  • Samarium
  • Europium
  • Gadolinium
  • Terbium
  • Dysprosium
  • Holmium
  • Erbium
  • Thulium
  • Ytterbium
  • Lutetium

Fluids

Section is incomplete.

  • Water

Commodity Groups for Trade

For the trading part of the game I had to merge resources into groups, otherwise the list of goods would have become way too big and confusing for players. This section lists which resources go into which groups.

Rare Earths

  • Scandium
  • Yttrium
  • Lanthanum
  • Cerium
  • Praseodymium
  • Neodymium
  • Promethium
  • Samarium
  • Europium
  • Gadolinium
  • Terbium
  • Dysprosium
  • Holmium
  • Erbium
  • Thulium
  • Ytterbium
  • Lutetium

Noble Metals

  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Silver
  • Osmium
  • Palladium
  • Rhodium
  • Ruthenium
  • Iridium

Non Iron Metals

  • Bismuth
  • Chromium
  • Copper
  • Lead
  • Manganese
  • Mercury
  • Nickel
  • Tellurium
  • Indium
  • Tin
  • Zinc

Heavy Metals

  • Bismuth
  • Chromium
  • Copper
  • Lead
  • Mercury
  • Nickel
  • Tin
