Welcome to the MMIXmasters Wiki
MMIX is the computer and associated assembly language that Donald Knuth is using to specify algorithms in the next edition of his series,The Art of Computer Programming (TAOCP). Currently (~ 2007) three volumes and four fascicles have been published, with more in preparation. Knuth will use MMIX as the low-level programming language in the "ultimate" edition of his opus.
This web site is for the volunteers---the MMIXmasters---who are converting all of the programs in TAOCP, Volumes 1 - 3, from the old language MIX to the new language MMIX.
Although the primary purpose of this site is to serve the MMIXmasters, non-volunteers are welcome. Editing of this wiki's pages is restricted to members of the project, as is posting to the discussion pages.
To become a member of this project, send an email to the project adminstrator asking to be added as a member. To join a mailing list, go to the Mailing Lists Summary page and subscribe to the list(s) of interest.
