Overview

JME C64 is a Java-based emulator for the most popular Homecomputer of the 80s, the Commodore 64. It started out as a port of jac64, another Java-based C64 emulator, to the J2ME platform but the code was rewritten over time. Currently the following variants of the emulator exist:

  • Android C64: the emulator version for Android-based mobile devices.
  • JME C64: the emulator version for J2ME (MIDP 2.0), i.e. Java-enabled mobile devices, such as mobile phones or PDAs.
  • JSwing C64: an emulator version using J2SE, i.e. the Java version for desktop PCs. It uses the Java Swing classes for displaying the user interface. When looking for a PC version of the emulator, then this is the way to go.
  • JAWT C64: another emulator version using J2SE. It uses the Java AWT classes for the user interface. If you are having problems with JSwing C64 you should try this version.
