Using Grade Codes

In addition to entering assignment grades as numeric point values, it may be necessary to also use alpha-numeric codes as well. An example is excusing an assignment for a student. These grade codes are managed via the Grade Codes form. This form is access by choosing SETUP | GRADE CODES from the menu.

Codes and Values

When editing or adding grade codes, users must assign a code and a value for each code.

If a code has a value of excused, the assignment is not used in figuring that student's grade. If a code has a number value, it should be entered in the form and the Value bullet should be selected. One of the default codes is a blank cell, indicated as 'blank'. It is a good ideas to leave this code in the list, but the value can of course be set to Excused or any point Value.

Entering Codes

When entering grades, the code can be entered directly into the spreadsheet. GradeL uses code completion, so as you type, GradeL tries to guess the code you are typing.
