The Crazy Turtle Puzzle is a puzzle game which consists of 9 cardboard pieces. Each side of a card has either a head or a tail in a different colour or shape. You have to arrange the squares into a 3×3 matrix so that the heads and tails in the same colour match.

Using a Computer to Solve the Puzzle
Fastest way to solve puzzle is by entering problem on-line in Crazy Turtle Puzzle Editor. To solve variations it is necessary to map dog, clown, plane, etc. to turtles. Computer program maps turtle's head, tail and colour to a number according to following table. Different shapes, patterns or colours can be mapped to same table. Formula for matching tail and head pair is always TAIL-HEAD=4 . Problem and solution is represented by 36 digit octal number. How to construct that number is explained in Users Manual.
