Supporting distros

From backuppc

Jump to: navigation, search

Unix distributions that include backuppc. Please also include backuppc version and distro version.

Please don't mix distribution packages and tar upgrades. By installing a package and then upgrading to a newer version with the tar installer (by downloading the newest version of BackupPC from sourceforge and running configure.pl) you are confusing your package management system. Be prepared for "upgrades" to lower versions, just for one example. The damage to your package management system's state cannot easily be undone. You will need to figure out what to do for yourself. Avoid it. If you feel you really need that newer version (you probably don't), then install it from the tar file. That's not more complicated than upgrading with the tar installer. Remove the package first if you've already got it installed.

For install instructions, please see that FAQ on this Wiki
