project stats on user's page, files page
Written by jmichae3 the 28 Mar 12 at 03:25. Global category: Project Web. New
I would like to see the weekly download stats for ALL my projects (I have 20-30) on my user page such as https://sourceforge.net/users/jmichae3
next to the link for the project. the project names are typically short enough to allow for enough whitespace for either an iconized stats or a simple number like 26downloads/wk or 26DL/week or 26DL/wk, however you want to do it.

Solution #1: 50% opacity number and graph, different colors

I personally would prefer seeing a number rather than an icon only, since I can see the list of numbers easily and I don't have to hover over each one for 2 seconds to get a number, that's too much work.

I have an idea for the iconized stats which may work.
graph in one color like orange #ff9933 from the visibone color wheel's color blind web safe color-blind palette on 1 layer with 50% opacity, number centered horizontally and vertically in icon/box/div/span/whatever with color blue #3399ff, also from the visibone color wheel's color blind web safe color-blind palette. has contrast since they are opposites on the color wheel. see visibone.com to get the color wheel (I like the laminated "book").

maybe make the graph wider than it is tall maybe by 2-3x to handle large numbers?

or direct me to the project which covers these web stats so I can make the requests?

google-analytics on project pages
Written by clearscene the 14 May 11 at 10:24. Global category: Project Web. New
Unable to track web traffic on the project pages using google-analytics.
Piwik is an option, but running two statistics system is impractical.
If all your other sites, services and online offerings are tracked in google-analytics, the missing data from sf.net becomes a real problem.

Solution #1: Include google-analytics such as piwik
Written by clearscene the 14 May 11 at 10:24.
Have the ability to post a google-analytics UA-XXXXXX-X code by admins, in the same way as the piwik code. If present add the std google-analytics code to each project page.

MantisBT / Trac statistics in Site Statistics
Written by bindul the 22 Nov 10 at 19:11. Global category: Statistics. New
Projects using MantisBT or Trac hosted apps for issue tracking show no tracker activity in the site statistics. This has three potential disadvantages:

1. The project admins and other users miss out on the nifty statistics available to other projects using the SF.net tracker
2. Even for a project not using tracker, the tracker stats show up in the project statistics page, and with the 0 data gives the wrong impression that the project has no activity on issues.
3. Since tracker numbers contribute to site ranking, projects using MantisBT or Trac are at a disadvantage here for ranking.

Solution #1: Include MantisBT / Trac statistics in Site Statistics
Written by bindul the 22 Nov 10 at 19:11.
I think it would be a great if MantisBT and Trac numbers could be implemented in the Site Statistics just like tracker statistics. This is important for projects which decide to use MantisBT or Trac for issue tracking instead of the tracker.

Also, since tracker activity contributes towards project ranking, projects not using tracker but one of the other issue tracking tools are at a disadvantage here. That could be remedied if MantisBT and Trac contributed to statistics.

Allow anyone to access detailed all-time statistics
Written by createsoftware the 2 Mar 10 at 10:52. Global category: Statistics. New
On the statistics page, one cannot only access latest statistics with high resolution data. You cannot know, for example, how many downloads there were on dec 25, 2007. Yet if you want to refer to your project's ranking in a blog post, you may want to include a link where readers can check your claims.

Solution #1: Add a "date" field in the statistics page
Written by createsoftware the 2 Mar 10 at 10:52.
Adding a calendar object on the statistics page would allow one to access all the statistics in a very simple and handy way.

Solution #2: Add an option to download statistics as a table
Written by createsoftware the 2 Mar 10 at 10:53.
You could also propose to download a table with all statistics from the project's registration.

Graphs are not customizable
Written by mirelon the 8 Feb 10 at 14:21. Global category: Statistics. New
In statistics section, there are many graphs to display progress. There are options to see last 7 days, last 2 months, last 12 months...so small options and resolution of data is automatically set to 1 hour, 1 day or 1 month.

Solution #1: Use another graphs

I suggest to include graphs that provide from, to and resolution as parameters, so the user can set these parameters and see custom graph.

Statistics should include hosted apps activity (trac at first)
Written by feroda the 17 Jun 09 at 22:08. Global category: Statistics. New
I have just uploaded my company project in Sourceforge.net along with the whole Subversion repository. We use to manage the development process with TRAC, so I've requested and enabled it.

In trac we create and manage tickets: this is an activity for our project and we would like that it contributes to sourceforge.net statistics computation.

I think that the same policy should be applied to other hosted apps: wordpress blog posts or ideatorrent "ideas in development" or "implemented ideas", but this is not needed for us now.

Solution #1: Develop specific backends batch scripts (for batched statistics)
Written by feroda the 17 Jun 09 at 22:08.
If some of your statistic results are computed on values obtained through batch operations, you could "simply" add specific backend for a specific value of a specific hosted app.

I.e. for trac on sqlite3 do nightly:
# sqlite3 trac.db select count(*) from ticket_change;
and get the total amount of ticket updates.

Then apply your alogrythm to compute activity...

I'm sure the solution is more complex than this simple stupid hint proposed by me,
but ... i play the game !

Thank you for you wonderful support
feroda
