There is no good mechanism for letting the community request features

The community can use the forums to talk about ideas and JIRA lets you submit a request and watch and vote but in both cases stuff get's lost and there is no good way for people to add to the idea or propose solutions and easily categorize the ideas

IdeaTorrent is what can be defined as an "open innovation software": it lets people submit their ideas, brainstorm them, and vote on them. The most popular ideas and requests are then easily assessable.

It is open source and based on Drupal. It should be easy to download, implement and maintain.

SourceForge hosts IdeaTorrent and makes it available to the projects. We can activate that app for pentaho. Actually we already did and that's how you are able to see this and participate.
