Idea #107: Sort collection by file creation date

bug This idea was marked as being in development the 11 January 12.
Written by takkat the 2 Jan 12 at 09:37. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: In development
Rationale
At present tracks in a collections can only be sorted by their date "Added".

For files that existed prior to creation of the collection this date does not reflect the date when the file was actually added to the harddisk but rather the date when the collection was created. So every time we need to rescan the collection or have a fresh installation of Guayadeque (e.g. after an OS upgrade) we lose all information on the date when a music file was added.

As music file directories usually contain several subdirectories we can not easily browse there for recently added tracks.

Selected solution (#1): Add a sort field "File Creation Date" for the library browser
Written by takkat the 2 Jan 12 at 09:37.
In addition to the "Added" tag in the collection library browser we could introduce a "File Creation" tag using the OS file properties. This would let us sort tracks from the date when their file was actually added to the harddisk.

Selected solution (#2): Touch the "Added" data field with file properties creation date
Written by takkat the 2 Jan 12 at 09:44.
To get a more consistent information on when a track was physically added to a collection we could optionally touch the collection library "Added" data field with information from the file creation date.

This would need an extra dialogue to choose to perform this action or a tickbox for library preferences dialogue.
